This script is an adaptation of one I've seen here posted at least four times by different folks. I take no credit for the original script. This script basically searches a database contained on the search html page.
What makes this one different is that I added two new features. The first allows the user to select how many returns he/she will be shown. This can be easily modified be the webmaster. The second addition is a feature that allows the user to select from which directory to search in. On my shareware site, I have a separate directory for each category of files. Therefore, the URL for the files all have a directory in the string. This directory text is used to display ONLY returns found in the requested directory.
For the purpose of this example, I left my database in the file. This should give a good example as to how this engine can be used.
